ISP-I™ LTE - Lab Testing

With the introduction 3GPP LTE Evolved Packet System, eUTRAN and Evolved Packet Core (EPC), LTE testing must now reflect the real world - Vendors need to work with real IP Service data flows (SDFs) to accurately test the capability of the the eUTRAN and EPC to deliver traffic and ensure the right guaranteed bit rates (GBR) and QoS are applied under any variety of conditions.

ISP-I for LTE™ allows Vendors and Operators to test with real triple-play traffic instead of relying on homegrown solutions or less conclusive bit-blasting. It is the World's only LTE-focused test solution to allow the creation, scheduling and measurement of the actual service data flows that will be evident in LTE broadband environment - enabling fully-automated, scheduled, scalable IP service data flows - freeing up your company's talent from repetitive testing.

Key features include:

  • Create real traffic profiles with concurrent voice, video and data application
  • Automated and configurable active clients - 200+ concurrent active IP service data flows
  • Model and soak-test service data flows under sustained load for any time period using advanced scheduling capabilities
  • Expose IP protocol issues that are impossible to test manually
  • Detailed analysis of each IP service data flow transactions includes throughput, loss & jitter, Voice MOS and Video Statistics
  • Fully-integrated support for other radio access technologies (RATs): 2G, 3G (HSPA), Wi-Fi® and WiMAX™ services.
  • 3GPP AAA RADIUS extension support

Comprehensive Testing capability includes
Capacity Testing determines the capacity of your LTE infrastructure to support a specified level of high priority SDFs for a given service level by measuring the underlying performance of broadband sessions for a given CQI class in the presence of a mix of varying priority background SDFs.

Service Assurance Testing determines the SLA break-point of your LTE infrastructure handling a constant service load in the presence of changing best effort traffic, by measuring the achieved service levels of high priority traffic as lower priority traffic varies. This can effectively validate infinitely-variable complex usage scenarios.

Traffic Handling Priority Testing determines the performance, capacity and service quality metrics offered by your LTE infrastructure in the presence of multiple service data flows each utilizing varying QCI prioritization requirements as defined by the 3GPP standard.

Real End-to-End Testing
ISP-I for LTE™ uses real service data flows to test the delivered Quality of Service across any LTE network. User Equipment Controllers (UE-C) connect to real consumer handsets and dongles to test VoIP, Video & Data flow sessions in single or massively parallel sequences and immediately report results to a central reporting database.

  • The use of real IP traffic when running the test and measurement functions ensures that the QoS engineering in the LTE network will treat the service data flows correctly - a more effective approach for checking QoS than using simulated services.
  • Deploying multiple synchronised IP service data flows enables lab technicians to accurately monitor and record loading for groups of users on the network and understand the flow-control and QoS capabilities before deployment
  • QoS across all IP service data flows is measured in parallel for all applications being tested on the network giving a true indication of the flow-control behaviour and failure thresholds
  • Ability to load network with multiple SIP-based VoIP, Video and Data service data flows (SDF) with varying QoS requirements provides a means of identifying the actual traffic levels where the QoS becomes unacceptable
  • Integrated report browser provides both real-time and historical views of all test cycles

LTE Sample Reporting options for all active devices across all metrics

Some key benefits include:

  • Create an instant regression test-bed for future releases in development
  • Real handsets, Real Modems and Real end-to-end servide data flows - removes the risk of simulation-only testing
  • Real testing using real devices will dramatically reduces the risk of costly and brand-damaging LTE failures
  • Dramatically reduce testing time with increased confidence in product reliability
