TELECOM TO USE EPITIRO TO MEASURE ITS BROADBAND SERVICES
Epitiro Technologies Ltd has announced it has signed Telecom as a customer for its real-time broadband measurement services.
Epitiro’s local Managing Director Mike Cranna said “This is great news for Telecom’s Xtra subscribers. Epitiro’s services will provide Telecom with the ability to closely analyse the service it provides to customers.”
Telecom spokesman David Craig said “Epitiro has a good record of working with the top ISPs in the UK and elsewhere around the world. We are looking forward to using their data and analysis as part of our broadband work in New Zealand”
Epitiro, which has tracked the UK broadband market for several years and has recently been selected by the Commerce Commission to provide the industry standard statistics for the New Zealand market, measures ISPs’ services by simulating the behaviour of the customer.
“We sign up to multiple ISPs’ services from multiple physical test sites, and then test their performance every fifteen minutes, 24 x 7. We run around ten tests, measuring everything from the time it takes to connect to how long it takes to download a web page from different parts of the world. Conducting all these tests every 15 minutes all day long gives us a very accurate picture of how each ISP is doing,” said Mr Cranna.
