Fiber and PON offers an exciting passive and significantly simplified infrastructure with the benefits of reduced capital and maintenance costs. The prospect of mass deployment of quality triple-play services (voice, data and broadcast video) has never been so obtainable.
However, understanding wide-scale consumer experience of this pioneering service requires not just high-speed test technology, but an affordable means to cover metropolitan and national rollouts of FTTx services.
Epitiro’s ISP-I has all the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) required to test consumer experience with a solution that scales practically and economically.
ISP-I conducts end-to-end triple play testing by executing tests from probes located right in the consumer premises. Alternatively, point-to-multipoint (PTMPN) tests can be achieved by installing probes in the Passive Splitter locations across a country. This is a practical means of acquiring pre-last mile data without having to go to the customer premises.
While power loss, back reflection and other optical transport measurements are made during commissioning of the installation, ISP-I concentrates analysis of the end service from the customer viewpoint.
Hardware and software probes function exactly as end-users would do, connecting to your services and interacting with online services. Each Probe tests to Epitiro ETP1 and ETP2 test points, for measuring Voice, Video and Data (internet) performance. The test points are intelligent and ensure tests are repeated should any error occur during the execution of the test script.
See the Test Applications section for a complete list of metrics covered in Broadband, Voice, Video, QoS & MPLS Management and Email testing.
