The Epitiro team is a group of experienced telecom engineers, managers, and entrepreneurs. They have come together with the goal of not just building an innovative business focused on solving real customer problems, but also to ensure that along the way they build value, relish the journey, enjoy the views, and never forget to laugh.
Dimitrios TopaltzasCEO & Co-founder
Dimitri brings over 20 years of telecom innovation, management and entrepreneurship to Epitiro.
Dimitri’s focus on, and innovation in, wireless communications includes being instrumental in the development of Telephia – an early pioneer in the measurement and benchmarking of cellular networks, and founding Metrico Wireless – a high-growth company at the forefront of User Experience measurement serving some of the world’s most successful wireless carriers and smartphone manufacturers. Metrico Wireless was sold to Spirent Communications in 2012 and the technology and solutions from that business continue today.
Dimitri is an Engineering graduate from the University of Maryland and received his MBA from Carnegie Mellon.
Des OwensCOO & Co-founder
Des brings operational and execution experience to Epitiro. He has led teams in technology research, network operations, marketing and sales. Des has started businesses in the Americas, Europe and Asia. His passion is building great teams, developing new business and enjoying the journey.
After designing mobile networks in Europe, Des moved to the United States and started a business for Actix – a wireless software company which thrived through the growth of mobile networks. Later, he joined Metrico Wireless and led their sales and international expansion. Following the sale to Spirent, Des ran one of Spirent’s largest business units.
Des is an Engineering graduate from the University of Sheffield in England.
Jeff HornerCTO & Co-founder
Jeff is an innovative leader with more than 20 years of experience in product management, R&D and engineering. Jeff has led a number of technology innovations in early-stage ventures. Most recently he was CTO at HAE Innovations. Earlier he was instrumental in the design and development of the technology behind the products at Metrico Wireless and Telephia.
During his time at Metrico and Telephia Jeff focused on developing methods and technology for measuring wireless network performance. This followed a period with Verizon Wireless and Comsearch where he had regional responsibility for network design, optimization and benchmarking.
Jeff is an Engineering graduate from the University of Maryland.
Ardeshir GhanbarzadehHead of Customer Management
Ardeshir is responsible for managing Epitiro’s key customer interactions and business development. He brings tremendous experience with customer operations, product and service development, and a deep understanding of the technology and its business application.
After a decade of telecoms service delivery and support, Ardeshir joined early-stage companies focused on delivering innovative services with new technology. His experience includes director and vice president positions in operations, service development and product innovation.
Ardeshir is a Telecommunications Management graduate of New York Institute of Technology and has earned his MBA from CUNY-Baruch College in New York.
Magnus LidmanHead of Engineering
Magnus leads the software development and engineering for Epitiro and brings a wealth of business and technology expertise to the team. He has focused his whole career on software development and analytics in the telecom industry, with over 15 years of experience developing state-of-the-art software including cloud-hosted, “big-data” analytics systems. During this period Magnus has held senior development and management positions in a number of fast-growing and dynamic companies including: Agilent, Actix, Metrico, Ascom, Spirent, and Infovista.
Magnus earned his Master’s degree in Computer Science from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. Another notable achievement is that he was on the guest list for a RUN-DMC concert once.
Simon BoneHead of Product Management
With over 15 years of technology and product development expertise in wireless telecommunications, Simon leads Product Management for Epitro. He is responsible for product strategy, development priorities and delivery. Simon has extensive prior experience in technology, product management and support for international customers. He has previously held senior positions at: Actix, Metrico and Spirent Communications.
Simon earned his Master’s degree in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London.
